TB-500 traces back to thymosin beta-4, a protein present in nearly every cell of the body. The research around it is about repair: building tissue, moving cells and laying down new blood vessels. In that corner the name rarely stands alone, because together with BPC-157 it forms the pairing known in repair research as "Wolverine". What is TB-500 research about?
Repair is the theme. TB-500 is thought to have a hand in the repair of muscle, tendon, ligament and skin tissue and in laying down new blood vessels. Within the recovery field that makes it the counterpart to BPC-157, and in practice often its companion.
What part does actin play?
TB-500 descends from thymosin beta-4, a protein that sits naturally in almost every cell. The story turns on actin, a building block cells use to move themselves and to build tissue. TB-500 is thought to support that cell migration and so help set repair processes and the laying down of new blood vessels in motion. Nearly all of that research comes from animal models.
TB-500 or BPC-157, or both?
The two names often fall together, but they approach repair from different sides. BPC-157 comes from a stomach-protective protein and is mainly tied to the healing environment: blood flow, inflammation and signalling routes. TB-500 sits on the cellular side, via actin and cell migration. Because those routes complement each other, they are regularly studied as a pair, the so-called "Wolverine" stack. Making it up and storing it
You receive a lyophilised vial that you make up yourself with bacteriostatic water. The literature usually works with weekly protocols, often with a heavier opening phase followed by a lighter maintenance phase, though that differs per study. How is TB-500 tolerated?
The profile counts as mild in research. What comes up now and then stays light: tiredness shortly after administration, headache, or a reaction at the injection site. Because TB-500 prompts cell division, the literature mentions caution with existing tumours or cell overgrowth. For prolonged use outside of studies, no hard data is available.
Legal, and do you need a prescription?
In the Netherlands TB-500 is not approved as a medicine.
