This short tripeptide is the tail end of α-MSH, a hormone the body makes itself, and it is that very piece which carries the anti-inflammatory side in research. Attention goes mainly to inflammatory processes in the gut and the skin. We supply it as a research-grade vial at ≥99% HPLC purity, dispatched the same working day from the Netherlands. One theme: damping inflammation
With KPV the research turns on one thing, and that is calming inflammatory signals. It is a short tripeptide of lysine, proline and valine, the tail end of the body's own hormone α-MSH, which has long been known for its anti-inflammatory side. KPV is thought to carry exactly that property with it, which is why it is looked at mainly around the gut and the skin, where inflammation plays a leading role. Why it gets inside the cell
What stands out is the point of action. Where many compounds stay outside the cell, KPV is thought to get inside and slow the inflammatory machinery there, chiefly through the NF-κB pathway, the central switch behind the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Because the molecule is small and stable, it is also taken up easily. Nearly everything known about this comes from lab and animal models.
The piece of α-MSH without the rest
KPV does not stand alone but is a fragment of something larger: the C-terminal piece of α-MSH, in full alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone, hence the synonym α-MSH(11-13). It is that tail piece which carries the anti-inflammatory action, without the pigment and appetite effects that full α-MSH and related peptides do bring. In the literature it is therefore described as the anti-inflammatory part of α-MSH. We supply it as a research-grade vial.
Two research areas: gut and skin
With KPV the same two fields keep returning. In gut models the subject is inflammatory disease such as Crohn's and ulcerative colitis, with the peptide taken up through the gut wall. In skin models it is inflammation-related conditions and wound healing. The underlying thought is the same in both cases: bring local inflammation down. This is explicitly pre-clinical and early research; we supply for the lab only, not as a treatment.

We deliberately leave the amount open: this is a research compound, and we give no human dosing advice with it. What is known about tolerability?
The profile counts as favourable in research, which fits the small size of the molecule and its origin as a fragment of a natural hormone. In the studies that exist, mostly mild reactions were reported. The honest caveat stands: large-scale long-term data in humans is lacking, and what you see depends heavily on the study design.
